Hello,

I have a simple asus laptop. I wanted to add an SSD to it, so I first checked whether it had space.

I opened my laptop up, which opened very weird tbqh. The keyboard etc. got up, Image:

However, now when I tilt my laptop while its running (not in sleep mode) it makes a lightsaber-like sound. Which sounds nice, but it makes me feel worried.

So is there any danger? Why does it make this sound?

And secondly, is there more place for RAM/SSD or should I replace the dvd reader with a SSD?

Thank you in advance,

EDIT: ADDON:
The middle part of the keyboard wasnt being lift up, so I used some force and it popped up. In the middle part there is the processor, could they have glued it to the keyboard?

Hi,

Have you identified where the weird sound is coming from? Do identify first where the sound is coming from, it could be from the hinge of your laptop since it happens when you flip the screen open.

Next, about your question if you can upgrade your RAM or even add a SSD, we'll need the complete model of your laptop so we can identify if it's possible for an upgrade. But i'm sure that you can upgrade your laptop with a SSD but using a HDD caddy.

Here are sample of a HDD caddy for ASUS laptop's but you'll need the exact model number to get the caddy that will fit in your laptop.

The laptop makes the sound when I am tilting the whole laptop up and down. It doesnt matter whether the screen is up or down. It also seems like the sound comes from the place where the processor is. I think the fan got a bit loose? Is this really dangerous?

Also, my laptop model is: F555LJ-DM412H. I managed to open the ram slot and it seems like it has 4 gb onboard and 1 slot with a 2gb ram inside it.

So should a regular SSD and a regular laptop Ram replacement be possible?
