So when it is plugged in, it works fine? If that is the case, it may well need a new battery, or the batteries connections are not working correctly. If the battery is not putting out enough power, it would make the tablet not work.

It also could be something on the tablet that is the cause, but that is less likely.

If it is under warranty still, I would contact the manufacturer about a repair or replacement.
