my nikon cool pics says my disc is write protected, help

I have taken lots of pics and downloaded to pc, but now my camera says my card is write protected and will not allow more pics to be taken.

you can check whether your card write proctect switch was placed on the "lock" position?

See if you can reformat the card (assuming no pics on it).
