My screen is black

Hello,my packard bell easy note screen is black when i switch it on you can hear the fan working also the cd works fine but i cannot see nothing on the screen please help thank you

It's probably one of two things: The back light blew out or the inverter is shot. If you can hold a flashlight up to the screen and see things, i.e. windows, etc..., it's the inverter. It can easily and cheaply be replaced by someone who knows what they are doing with computers.
