My tablet drained, but after I had the charger in for a week, it refused to power on. What is wrong with it?

The model is a Samsung;
Model: SM-230NU

S/N: R52G10SC58R
It has 8GB (gigabytes) of storage space.

I was trying to turn restart the device, when it blacked out. It was charging when this happened.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY TABLET. I had it for three months, than it blacked out. Only had one large game on it (4.5GB of storage were taken up). I had Netflix, Spotify, and i believe google chrome.

My tablet has no cracked screen. It’s all in one peice. So why did it black out like it did.

My overall question is.....
DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG??
Did I accidentally tap something I shouldn’t have tapped that caused the black out? How could this happen to a new tablet!?

Solution
Did you try another charger or USB cable? Does the battery get warm (feel back of tablet) when charging?

You could have a defective battery, charger, or USB cable. The questions above are to isolate the problem.
