Hello guys, sorta new to toms hardware. I've been searching around a lot the past week; looking for a nice laptop. Mostly going to use for gaming and also going to use it for school as well since I go to college. This is the list of the ones I've seen and been interested in.

- ASUS G75VX G75VX-BHI7N09 - $1,291.96 & FREE Shipping
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-G75VX-G75VX-BHI7N09-17-3-Inch-Laptop/dp/B00ATZ9IUY/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1366251766&sr=1-4&keywords=asus+g75

- Qosmio X870-BT3G23 - $1,299.99

- IdeaPad Y500 Laptop - Dual Graphics - 59371963 - Dusk Black - $1159.20
http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?GroupID=457&Code=59371963

These are some of the ones I've looked at. The 2 I really like are the y500 and the asus, but I don't know; some people say stay away from lenovo (y500) because the quality is bad. Asus people say is good quality stuff and Toshiba (Qosmio) doesn't really give any problems. If anyone has any suggestions please post it, I'm really open on them since I just want to buy a laptop that I will have for years to come and not have to worry about upgrades. What I want in one:

- 1920 x 1080 resolution
- i7
- At least 8 gigs of ram
- Under 1300$
- Good Graphics card for ultra setting games

Or If there are any for cheap that I can just throw in some upgrades and make it better, I'd like info on that as well If you guys know about doing that sort of stuff; I've made my own desktops before, laptops shouldn't be much harder. Thanks a bunch!

Y500 quality is solid. Their shipping by date listed is bad. If you order one add a week.

I bought one in Feb and I have no issues with the laptop. and they are on sale now.

huh, funny thinking about getting the g75vx too but i agree with the Y500 its a much better deal right now for the sale. Get it on lenovo.com where it comes with dual Geforce GT750M in SLI which is much better than the 660
Edit: i didnt really like the idea of a lenovo either but ive met people who have the Y500 and they say it works great and has good ventilation which is IMPORTANT in a gaming laptop. Also $1200 isnt really going to get you ultra on all games, just most right now but a few like Crysis 3, Secret World, and Tomb raider would look better in High settings.

Both the Asus and the Lenovo are pretty good. One thing to note about the Asus however (not sure on this on the Y500) is that all their Windows 8 machines - or at least the RoG series - are not capable of backing up the recovery image as they traditionally did with AI Recovery Burner, and Asus currently does not sell recovery media. Only workaround is to image the entire drive when you receive it.

By the way, if you plan on using it for serious gaming, then the Asus has a slightly better graphics card.

Edit: Just noticed the Y500 is dual GPU, so the Lenovo would actually be better. :)
