Need help calculating something in Excel

Wasn't sure if this is the correct section, so please do move if required.

Basically, I would like to calculate a cell that takes a value from a sub-total cell, into a cell that would add 20% VAT to it, to make a total.

Little confused over what your asking but say you had £10 minus vat you could put something like =sum(H3*1.2) that would equal £12 with VAT

If you had a total plus vat for example £12 and you wanted the vat amount displayed you could put =sum(H3/6) which would display (£)2
 
I don't know if VAT changes in Canada like the tax rate changes all the time in the USA.

For a long term solution you would simply have a cell that you designate as the VAT/Tax percentage, for the example say it is in k2

You then have in Column G instead of Total incl vat you would have "Subtotal", the formula for that would be = c3*(e3-d3)
In column H you would just have VAT, formula would be = g3*$k$2
In column I you would have Item Total, formula would be = g3+ h3
