Need help connecting Blu Ray player to soundbar

I need to connect my blu ray player to tv AND soundbar but the player only has one HDMI port. I bought a switcher like this one https/www.walmart.com/ip/ABLEGRID-3-Port-HDMI-Splitter-Switch-Cable-2ft-3-In-1-out-Auto-High-Speed-Switcher-Splitter-Support-3D-1080P-For-HDMI-TV-PS3-Xbox-One-etc/856732601 but apparently you can only connect it to tv. So what do I need to buy to get additional hdmi port for my player?

Model names of your devices?

If your soundbar device has HDMI pass-through, then connect Blu Ray to HDMI-IN and TV(HDMI-ARC port) to HDMI-out (on soundbar device).

If it doesn't, then connect Blu Ray to HDMI on TV and soundbar to TV via HDMI-ARC (or digital audio-out).

Connect the BD player to the TV.
Connect the soundbar to the TV with either optical audio or HDMI-ARC. Both the TV and soundbar have to support ARC for that to work. You will need to turn either one on in the TV menu. You may have to turn the TV speakers off and change the audio output type too.

Yeah it works if I just use optical cable for soundbar to tv but I just wondered if I could somehow connect player to soundbar for better audio or would I notice any difference?

If the soundbar supports lossless audio codecs like Dolby TrueHD there is a very slight possibility it will sound better. Save up for an AV receiver and real speakers if you want to upgrade your audio.
