Need Help deciding Laptop vs Desktop

I need help making a decision on whether to buy a laptop vs desktop. I already have a passed down alienware mx14 that my brother passed it down to me when he got a laptop for college.I have a OK laptop(GTX 555,8g Ram,I7 2.6) that runs the games i like but not good enough. I was wondering if i should get a laptop or Desktop since my parents are divorced. I stay at my dads house every other weekend im at my moms more often anyway. What would be more convenient? I wake my laptop to school anyways and i can take it to my dads and just use it there and keep my desktop at my moms. I can drive and maybe bring the desktop if i get one if it isnt very bulky. I am also worried what games it will be able to run in the future (COD BO3, GTA:V.... ECT) I play every major game now so what do you recommend?

A desktop is always cheaper and runs games better than a laptop,but there's decent laptops that can run these games at high settings but try cost a lot 2k$ like the alienware 17(gtx 980m)but 1k-700$ desktops can do the same and better performance,anyways have you considered getting a console (ps4)?you already have a laptop and a ps4 only costs 400$
