Hi everyone,
I have decided I would like to upgrade my crappy laptop and get a decent laptop so I can actually run Skyrim and Battlefield. I have been looking around the internet and found some pretty good options. I don't really want to go over $1,000. Here is a list of the good ones that I found.

1st option:

2nd option:

3rd option:

4th option (this has a geforce 840m 2gb):

5th option:

What do you guys reckon would be the best out of those laptops for gaming? Thanks in advance:)

Solution
The PO11TX also has the 840m and is cheaper at Dick Smith.

That aside, none of the computers are especially well suited for gaming, but the three with 840m are much better. As to the specific machine, some of them are local models not available elsewhere, so there is little data. I know that the Aspire and Asus chassis perform well.

As loony as it sound, I have never used Amazon from downunder. I always buy the stuff in the USA.

Shipping charges could be high.

You might want to check other options. Buy out of Singapore, Hong Kong, or Taiwan. What do Uni. students do, where do they get their stuff from? You need to research sellers other than main-stream retailers.

That, or similar Acers, is something I commonly recommend for the $500 - $600 US gaming market. Like in desktop CPUs, the i5 is just as good for gaming as the i7. It's the four real cores that count, and the turbo, not the hyperthreading.

now you are getting down to the short strokes, you research and personal impressions are most valuable.

How long do you expect this laptop to last befoer you need to replace it? It's a big chunk of $ now, but how much is that per year?

Useful life to you. how long before you think you will need to chuck it?

I buy my laptops to give 6 to 7 years, at $250 per year. Two good years, two OK years, and two to three years playing older games and waiting for the next generation. I am choosing to build a desktop, rather than buy a new laptop and I have 6 or 7 games stacked up waiting because they will not run on my existing machine, so I'm looking forward to a very happy 2015 :)

I 'dont know exactly why portability is so important. for something transportable, you might look at an all-in-one. A few of them, by MSI for example, have good GPUs and BIG screens.

The one with the i5 i reckon i could get 2-3 playing new games then another couple of years playing older games or newer games on low. Then buy then i will have a job and i can buy a really beast laptop or build my own pc depending on what im looking for.

The reason I gave him links to the U.S. amazon is because it was the cheapest I could find by far. Also, I knew Amazon ships globally. Anyway, I'm sure the Lenovo will serve you well. I own an older y series lenovo and it is a great laptop. the jbl speaker system makes it hard to beleive such good sound can come from a laptop. Anyway, glad I could help. Good luck.

To answer your question, the 750m is more powerful than the 840m, but you will get a lot longer (battery life) out of the 840m, so it comes down to how long you would prefer to use the laptop for, and the situations it will be used in.

The 750M is a bit better than the 840M. Much of the advantage is due to the GDDR5 memory used on the 750.

The 750M uses the older Kepler design, which is powerful and capable, The 840M uses the more modern Maxwell design and uses a lot less power, for only a small reduction in graphics capability.

If you laptop runs of mains power most of the time, you will not notice the difference.

The 750M will produce more heat than the 840M, so check the reviews of the laptop using it ti see if there are any overheating problems reported.
