Need help picking laptop.

So my student loan came through and I have some money to burn. I need a laptop desperately for my course. I'd like to be able to do some light gaming on it, but nothing too strenuous(I'll leave that for my desktop). What I need from it is to be fairly lightweight so I can take it with me to and from college, have at least 1TB of storage and have a decent battery life. Just a couple of hours is fine. I have around £600 to spend, but I could maybe go to £800 if it was justifiable. There's too many brands for me to pick from so I keep getting confused. Thanks in advance.

With the rest of your money upgrade it buy buying it 4GB of more RAM to have 8GB and an SSD. Then make it's HDD external. My friend can run Crysis 3 and Far Cry 3 on it with no problems.

+1; Crysis 3 would run flawlessly on a laptop like that.

I bought hp pavilion p045tx around this july after a big search. I found it to be best in the range u specified(since it coincided with mine 😀) I felt it has better specs than the mentioned asus(no offense just my view)
Specs of hp p045tx:
core i7 4510u, 8gb ddr3, 1TB HDD, nvidia geforce 840m 2gb, beats audio
I played batman arkham city on almost ultra settings, then assasins creed, darksiders 2 almost high settings, no lags. Battery life is also decent, if just regular 2-3 pdfs are open, I usually get around 6hrs. or even more. While playing games, I run it on adapter, not on battery for better performance. If u open as much as 3-4 pdfs alongwith some 7-8 firefox pages then also it doesn't get hot, just a little bit.
It weighs around 2.27kg. For me its ok.
Mainly due to its snow white colour its very attractive but at the same time we have to take more care. Its sleek design helps to put it in bag & gives space for books &/or other stuffs.
I suggest if u go with this, then buy a laptop bag to put on whenever u r not using it so that its colour is not affected.
I personally wanted to go for lenovo z510 due to better processor + hybrid disk(1TB+8gb), but after hearing a lot bad reviews about their service and specially product failure number, I thought not to try my luck for this amount of money.
Aha one more thing if u dont want white color, hp has the same product in natural silver colour. Its product no. is hp pavilion p073tx.
