The HP Stream uses a Bay Trail generation Atom CPU. However, inexpensive laptops should be coming out soon with the update Cherry Trail generation Atom CPU which has so far been exclusive to the Microsoft Surface 3 which was released earlier this summer. The CPU processing performance of Cherry Trail barely any faster than the older Bay Trail CPU, but Intel claims the integrated graphics is up to twice as powerful as the one in Bay Trail.
HP announced yesterday (Oct 7th, 2015) that a new version of the HP Stream 11 and 13 will be available on Oct 18th for $200 and $230 respectively. Not much information is provided other than longer battery life, new colors and a new Intel Celeron CPU. That new Celeron CPU is most likely a Cherry Trail CPU, but that is only an educated guess.

I think more inexpensive laptops using the Cherry Trail Atom CPU will hit the market in November just in time for the Christmas sale season.
