hi. i have a pair of audio technicas ath m50s. i bought them because of the praise for their sound quality and bass. with all that praise, i thought they would be able handle anything. i have my boost set on 50 hz with 24 db. that is the motherboard boost option. i then have a bass boost box thing connected to my pc. it can handle fine when the volume is normal but turning up would result in distortion. is there another headphone that can handle more bass than the m50s?

Its already got the right amount of bass. You keep distorting it and you'll wreck them. Get rid of boost box. 24db increase in bass is ridiculous. Instead, turn down the treble a touch.

With an old mobo like that you should get a sound card though.
Try another headset.

It could be just boost bass box distorting. Try it without that.

The M50Xs are fantastic. If you got ALC1150 realtek chip on your motherboard you should be fine. Otherwise, try a sound card.

The good thing about the M50s are their neutral response - not too much treble or bass. If you want more bass you might need to look at other headphones.

im pretty sure it is not the boost box. bc when i plug it into pc, bass is softer. bass box is meant to push that bass limit. i have the asrock lga1155 z75 with no sound card. im pretty sure that the headset is not meant to have extremely loud bass but the perfect mix. is there one where it can take considerably more bass?
