Need new backlight

My Acer notebook screen won't light up. I don't have another monitor but do have a different laptop - can I connect the two to see if video is working? Possibly, my Acer backlight has suddenly burned out. Where can I go to have it replaced?

You can not connect a laptop to another laptops display, you will either need a separate monitor or TV and the correct cables. You can search the manufacturer website for their manual which should show you how to replace the monitor, check ebay and amazon for a replacement screen, they are usually inexpensive.
