Hello and greetings,

Last week i saw that i had to pay 400 euro's extra on my electricity bill.

This to me is obviously the computer's fault because i leave it on 24/7 ( my fault ) :p

Things i did to help myself

1. Installed MSI aps ( phase switching ) for my 560 ti's pcie
2. downclocked my gpu to 400 mhz and 70% off shader speeds ( i will put normal clocks when gaming etc.)
3. Put my computer in hybrid sleep after 10 minutes , hdd off in 10 min etc.

Well thats about it

i was wondering if there is some freeware easy to use software to limit the power my pc is using, perhaps something to take power from the ram and memory

the computer in question is 2550k z68 gtx560ti

There's absolutely no way a PC can get that electricity bill. Even if it works 24/7 at 100% CPU and GPU load, you'd be looking at 250-270 kWh used in a month.

P. S. GPU downclocks automatically, you don't need to do anything yourself.

Where I live, we pay 0.13 euros per kWh. So if I left PC like yours working 24/7 AT FULL LOAD, it would cost me 32.5 euros for the PC alone. So unless you pay 10 times more for the electricity than me (which I doubt), it's not the PC that's making the bill.

A sudden increase like that would have me believe it to be either an accounting error on their part or they guessed your bill based on previous usage info instead of reading your meter. An increase like that may be worth paying the fee (if any) to have a tech come out and inspect your meter and do a manual reading. This is, of course, speaking from a US side of things. I have no idea about these things on your side of the Atlantic.

It differs from country to country, I guess. Here we take the readings ourselves and provide them during the payment for the last month. Next month, we get a bill according to the readings we gave them a month ago.
