I have a Sony VAIO E Series. the hard drive had an irrecoverable crash. I can pickup a new hard drive, but do I need a special Windows 8 made for a laptop?
If there's no COA (no Windows sticker on the laptop), look up your model laptop and you should be able to find out what it shipped with through any website that lists the specs for it (including Sony's site). Install the same edition of the OS and it should auto-activate when you're online.
no such thing. you'll need whatever win 8 version your laptop came with so the key will work. that's about it. most likely just good old regular win 8 is what you'll need.
look for the windows sticker on the case somewhere and it'll have the version it works on.
