Need to choose between Cpu Vs Gpu

I need help choosing between two gaming laptops, one is having an i5 7th gen/ GTX 1050ti 4gb in it and the other one has i7 7th gen/ GTX 1050 4gb. I'm into gaming but also studying 3D animation and VFX, so which configuration would be better for a lag free gaming experience and a lower render time ?

Faster video card would enable higher settings and smoother game play, i7 would have faster render time. Pick which one you really want.
