Looks interesting, but I wish Tom's listed the amount of RAM.
And i also wish tablets started coming with higher screen resolutions.

I'm really looking at the Archos 101 10inch capacitve screen for $299 I'm a little worried about the having only 256mb ram though and if it will support 3.0 as well.

I would rather have an SSD to reduce power requirements.

Note to webmasters: An auto-ban script targeting posts with URLs like "www.linecheckout.com" would solve a lot of spam problems.

I had the 8gb 70 for 1 week then sold it on ebay. It was way to slow after installing only 25-30 apps. It does only come with 256MB RAM and combine that with the fact that Archos decided (for battery stats) to limit the 1GHZ cpu to 800MHZ it really knocks it down the stairs. My HTC Incredible is much much faster, granted it doesn't have a 7inch screen or HDMI-out like the 70 but my HTC doesn't crash or hang up every 15-20 minutes. I'll be waiting for 2011 tablets that will be in the same price range as the 70 but that will actually work without the hangups. Archos almost had it. +1 for getting as far as it did.

[citation][nom]mman74[/nom]What's a Android Tablet without access to Marketplace? A big PMP player.[/citation]

Actually i have a DreamPad 7" and it stutters when trying to play even the lowest quality of movies (170x101 or something), so it's more like a big fat laggy MP3 player..

They updated the 70 and 101 and you can now set the clock up to 1GHZ if desired. They also gave an app to cut processes to keep it from being sluggish. 512 of ram would have been nice though.

Ugh, I'm so sick of the spam here on Toms. Can we fix this??

Back to the topic at large. Why do we need 250GB of HD space on a tablet? I can't imagine using that much space for mobile apps. Maybe if you wanted to add music and videos to watch.

That is precisely why they offer a 8gb version with a sdhc slot as well as the hd model.

[citation][nom]icemunk[/nom]250gb HDD. moving parts in a tablet. Dumb idea.[/citation]
It's not a dumb idea it's the only solution unless they want the table be as expensive as a car. All small portable devices that have a high storage capacity have small hdd on them. The iPod Clasic for instance also has a small hdd.

Exactly how do you play back 720p on a 480 line display?
You have to obviously downsize this somehow -and god knows what that does to the pixels- to 480 lines... which is basically DVD resolution. I'm sure it still looks cool on a tiny 7inch screen, but don't try to insinuate it is 'HDTV' when it clearly is not. Let's leave that sort of thing to the tabloid reporters, shall we !

Yes and yes.
1GB RAM, 1024x768 resolution S-AMOLED (most sites are designed for 1024 wide), and 1.8" HDD (storage) with 16GB flash memory (for OS and such).
You know, something you can actually replace a laptop with.
