Hi all

Looking for a new laptop for general use, youtube etc and games for the kid.

Maximum spend of £350

I have seen this:
http://www.cclonline.com/product/55478/LH478ES-ABU/Laptops/HP-625-Notebook/NOT0197/

and was going to add another 2GB of 1333mhz ram in there.

Do the i3-xxx have much hold over these, and would it be worth it for the use i plan on?

All suggestions pref with links are welcome

Thanks

Dude NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

That thing has integrated graphics and the CPU it is running is not great. Totally not worth it.

Please check out this one:

http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/ASUS_F50SF-1EJX_1041948.html

This Laptop has more RAM, better CPU (architecture, not pure clock speed), More storage, and most importantly DISCRETE GRAPHICS. It is not an incredible card, but can PLAY CRISIS (on low details at ~32FPS) It is a rebadged 9600m GT basically.

See these links:

http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9600M-GT.9449.0.html

I have done a bit of background checking on the company, and apparently they don't have great customer service, however no-one claims to have literally been thrown to the wolves, just inconvenienced.

Read reviews of the seller here:

HOLD, just found a site with much better customer service ratings and exactly the same deal. Search for the same model: ASUS F50SF-1EJX on SIMPLYASUS.com

free delivery, same price, better service. also apparently rated about 5/5 stars (from 28 reviews) for a near identical laptop on newegg. see link:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220559

only difference is the rated laptop had smaller Hard Disk.

You may ask why I have spent about an hour finding this for you.... I just HATE to see people buy laptops that they think will work for games but sadly can't. I made that mistake once.

@vocalist,

The shops I have put forward are UK only. I noticed the OP was using UK £'s so confined my search there. I also happen to live in the UK, despite my screen name (I am american though).

If you want me to find you a good deal on a laptop just give me some details with regards to budget and usage expectations. Try and keep it realistic. I will look for the best deal in your budget.

As for your question, check the Newegg link, they are a USA retailer, the model number I refered to is almost identical to the laptop I recommended here. You can always try to google that model and see if you can get a good deal on it.
