New laptop 800-1200 dollars

Yeah, last night i just got my 3 year old laptop stolen (MSI ge70)
I dont know if i should choose the same model, just the new one. I really enjoyed the speakers and the 17" screen was awesome to view movies on.
But i want to see if i can get a better price/performance pc, since MSI isn't the best i must admit.
Anyone can help me?
(I got a desktop, so a heavy gaming laptop isn't needed at all, mostly school - light gaming laptop)

For your budget, msi is good. You could look into one of their ge range or get something like a asus ux303ln.

This assumes you want a thing and light laptop with some gaming capabilities.

I am not really to mad with them at least they didn't charge my account and refuse to ship my item unlike ibuypower
