Hey, I’m looking for a new laptop that I can use for college, movies and light gaming.

1. What is your budget?
No higher than $750 but im trying to keep it under or about $700.

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
14 - 15.6 inches.

3. What screen resolution do you want?
Not to stingy on the resolution as long as it will provide good clarity and color.

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
I’m replacing my current laptop. It mostly stays on my desk but I also bring it to class and on airplanes occasionally.

5. How much battery life do you need?
Was hoping to get around 5 hours but it’s mostly used at home so its ok if it’s a little less, just nothing too unreasonable.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
I know for sure that I want to play Minecraft which I know is very demanding but I also want to play some indie games on steam and pick up some things on steam sales, medium quality would be nice. Not going to be playing any major titles like Call of Duty or any demanding games like that.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
I will be using it for college so things like research and writing papers, so a solid keyboard is kind of important. I will also be using it to watch movies and do light gaming.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
500 GB minimum

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
I’ve mostly been looking on amazon.com but if someone finds better deals on a different site I’m willing to check it out.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
I was hoping to keep it for around 4 or 5 years, I’ve had my current one for 7 years and it’s definitely out dated.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
It’s not a necessity but having at least some sort of optical drive might come in handy, though I could always buy and external drive if totally necessary.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I’m trying to avoid Dell at all costs. My current laptop is Dell and I have disliked it from the get go and ive also heard that Dell laptops have a lot of bloatware. Based on what I’ve been reading Acer, Asus, or Lenovo look like my best bets. However, I have read some not so pleasing things about Lenovo from some tech places. But I will look at anything that is recommended.

13. What country do you live in?
America

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
I was looking for it to have either an AMD or NVIDIA processor in it and was hoping to have at least 6 GB of RAM. Touch screen isn’t required but could come in handy. Speakers aren’t a big concern I normally use headphones. My 2 major concerns are a good keyboard and that it doesn’t risk overheating.

I know this is quite a bit of things I’m asking for out of a $700 computer but I’m willing to budge and find something realistic and suitable for my needs. These are a few that I have been looking into:

The Asus seems to be fitting all of the specs i was looking for. My only worries are reviews put complaints on the keyboard which is a focus for me since i will be using it for typing papers. Other than that it seems like a great choice.

As for the Lenovo, i have read bad things about Lenovo even though they get recommended a lot, if you have any input it would be great. The laptop you linked looks great with a sturdy build, but I dont know much about Intel hd graphics.

The Asus looks promising to me I just doubt the keyboard. Any feedback you have on either of those laptops or the ones i have linked would be great. You have a lot more experience with these things.
Thank you for your response.
