New Laptop running 8.1 running slow

Hi, just looking for some advice.

Just bought a new laptop, its a acer e5-551g-t430
amd a10-7300 cpu
amd radeon r7 m265 with 2gb vram
8gb ddr3 memory

Not super technologically inclined so not sure what else to put.
If anyone has any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I guess that post was a little vague.

The boot time on the laptop is fine however i find its slow opening programs and experience slowness when browsing in firefox as well. Switching between tabs I've noticed tends to lag the machine. As well while typing in firefox I often notice that the speed that the text displays is much behind the keystrokes

This can pose a problem. It may seem very odd but first try another browser, like Google Chrome and see if there is a difference regarding web browsing. You should have sufficient RAM so there shouldn't be "thrashing" on your machine. Try running disk cleaners as well as defragmenting the hard drive. That should boost the speed a little bit.

Thanks for your help, after doing a bit more searching you were right it is browser specific, my laptop came preloaded with mcafee and site advisor which apparently is the cause of my slow performance when running firefox.
