2 days ago, I bought a new laptop at Mediamarkt.
I assumed I bought one with an Intel core i7 (quad) processor, 16gb RAM, and 512 GB SSD.
But apparently I mixed up the boxes in the shop and bought one with an i5 processor, 8gb RAM and 256 GB SSD (no HDD).
Now I'm wondering: a 256 GB SSD.
Windows already takes about 25 GB.
Next you need to install the applications like Visual Studio (for development) which in its turn takes about 60 GB.
Also take into account that general applications (like MS office) take more space than 15 years ago.
And off course you need space for your files (photos, videos).
256 GB are through quiet rapidly.
But why do they still produce SSD's of 256 GB, if it's too less capacity for today's requirements?
An SSD-256GB costs 103 €.
An SSD-512GB costs 173 €.
If they would stop producing 256GB's, and focus on producing 512GB's, this price can drop to around 130 €.
What's the big deal of this?
