New monitor does not have speakers

When you plug it in to the hmdi port of laptop,it cancel out all sound. I clicked on the sound icon and disable the monitor ,but still does not work

Set default audio device to the sound card in audio options. The monitor may also have audio output jacks to hook up a speaker to.
