New TV old reciever help!

I just upgraded my TV to a Samsung UN60KU630DF and technology has finally surpassed my Yamaha RX-V1500. Does anyone have any experience getting these to work together without the hdmi?

What other device are you using. If you just need sound from TV to receiver, you connect optical from TV to receiver. If you have other legacy device that you use component. composite, S-video, then you're out of luck and probably will need to upgrade them all along with the receiver.

Let the TV switch video, assuming it has multiple HDMI ports, then let the old receiver switch audio, assuming it has enough Digital Audio IN jacks. That should hold you over until the upgrade.
