You write that the US and UK versions of the kettle are the same. I doubt that this is correct since the listed specifications indicates a power draw of 3000 watts. While totally possible in the UK with your 240 volt mains, this would not be possible on a 20 amp 120 volt line in the US. Such a US line would be limited to 80% of peak current or 1920 watts. I imagine that the time to boil a cup of water would also take a hit in the US.
