Interesting to note, that the 3DS in Japan is going to be more expensive than the Wii.

I'm not sure if you can make the judgement that because something costs the equivalent of ~$300 in Japan that it will here.

If it comes to Europe at around ~$300, that would be an absolute bargain.

[citation][nom]saljen[/nom]for $300 I can buy a playstation 3 or an xbox 360.... seriously nintendo?! get a clue![/citation]
Yes you could, but keep in mind that both of those consoles have seen several price drops since they launched...4 and 5 years ago respectively.

[citation][nom]assmar[/nom]Didn't the original gameboy come out in like 86? That's well over twenty years ago.[/citation]

Even with inflation thats still not a bad price for the time. The gameboy color wasn't even that bad.

but for $300 you can buy a full blown game console like the 360 and play full games. Not that the NDS is that bad but it only has a handful of viable games making it worth anything.

[citation][nom]cknobman[/nom]~$300 LOL no thanks.Personally for a pmp or handheld gaming device Id rather go with my android smart phone due to its versatility. For my kids there is no way Im spending over $150 on a handheld gaming device.[/citation]
$300 for 3-d movies without glasses, or $3000 for 3-d movies with glasses? I do find $300 for a handheld a bit high, but this is for Japan, not the US.

I was surprised this thing had 3d augmented reality feature and backwards compatibility for DS games. If this gets a decent web browser I am gonna be so sad for Sony. I hope the PSP2 is competitive enough to drive the price down of the 3DS (I don't think it's 300 USD but instead ~250 USD) so I can own both systems in late 2011 or early 2012 :)

It's going to be hard for Sony to convince current DS owners to switch considering the fact that this system covers the gamut in features. The only thing the PSP2 could offer at this point is phone capability. For them to be graphically superior this time around, they'd have to charge even more for device, which isn't going to fly. $250-300 for a handheld is already pushing it big time.

Well, to me, I'd buy the PSP2 in a snap if it has a fully featured web browser w/ native flash support :) and only if that web browser is really WAY BEYOND the 3DS' browser. But I agree, Sony is in deep dudu if it's just that over the 3DS crazy (IMO) features.

Id rather use my netbook and play emulated or free games, or better yet, get an open pandora console.. $350, have a computer with tons of open source software and multi task as well as play games. use my 3g from my phone, or wifi internet as well.

$300 is slightly steep but for something that packs so much engineering, it is somewhat understandable. After all the 3D effects were supposedly "amazing".
