Nintendo is absolutely right. Glasses free 3D is the way to go.
I played on Nintedo 3DS here in Brazil at the Gameworld event, and it's way better than I thought.
I have Nvidia 3D Vision glasses and besides the 3D effect being awesome, you loose brightness and as the glasses fits tight on my head, I can't stand using it for more than an hour or so.
I bet we will see glasses free 3D screens first on computer monitors within the next 3 years.
Let's play and have fun!

A console or any entertainment device doesn't need to pack a powerful hardware to be a success. Wii, iPhone and Kindle are just a few examples of devices that became a hit without employing the best hardware available. The 1st Kindle was very ugly indeed... The 1st iPhone had a terrific camera... And Wii hardware is comparable to Game Cube and even PS2.
It's not a matter of hardware, is a matter of fun!

Oh man, i've had my Wii for 2 years or so now and have likely a grand total of 48 hours run time on this thing max... and its the only console i've owned since Super Nintendo so i wont be one racing out to pick up another console. That being said, without seeing what all the major players out there have up to offer, Nintendo has been my favorite console and what i would probably choose. Sometimes less is more and the fact that they dont try to make things too ultra realistic goes a long way with me. Thats why i keep my PC updated with the latest generation GPUs and CPUs

I think the Augmented Reality feature is innovative. If they can (somehow) expand or develop that for the console, it would be great for FPS games.

I don't think it would be very popular if you were to have to wear a pair of 3D goggles and also have to jump around waving a controller around at the TV all at the same time. Apart from being dangerous and looking dangerous, you would look like an extra for the Borg. As everyone knows the Borg are not very popular and no-one wants to be a Borg.

Would the future of gaming be as depicted by The Lawnmower Man movie?
Something using Kinect + Move + some sort of virtual reality, but then we would need to wear glasses again... unless it could be based on holographic images around the whole room...

I vote no on all future Nintendo consoles until they git rid of the crap disc loading mechanism. It is broken on my Wii and every single friend of mines Wii. It'll suck the disc in and eject it right back out and no it's not the disc. Normally I'd take it apart and fix it but I can't find a triangle shaped bit for my screwdriver. Why make it so difficult to take apart, if i want to void my warrenty then so be it =) Also future consoles need to be tested in a household with pets (pet dander and shedding pets really clog those tiny fans and vents up). Another thing...if it's designed for smaller kids why are you using a DVD/CD medium....so i have to by a new one every month when it gets scratched.

All of the consoles use disc loading mechanisms....
