No Bootable device please restart system. Gateway laptop will not startup stays at gateway

Did this just start out of no-where or is there some background to the issue like it was dropped, spill, virus, etc...? Make sure you don't have any USB sticks or a DVD/CD in the drive, re-seat the hard drive in the laptop to make sure there is not a bad connection there.
