No Internet access on my computer

So I recently downloaded a sketchy file and quickly used malware bytes to remove it as well as cc cleaner. I restarted my computer and when I tried to use the internet I get hit by DNS_PROBE_STARTED followed by DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG.

The network icon on my task bar says I have access yet when I trouble shoot it says it can't connect to the DNS server. I checked network connections and it says my Ethernet cable is not plugged in when it is. My phone is getting wifi however my computer gets no access can I get a diagnosis?

Edit: I ran malwarebytes full scan twice with 0 results. Currently running a full Windows defender scan which should take 5 hours.

Edit 2: So Windows defender detected 2 big trojans and I cleaned them out. How did they bypass both windows defender and malware bytes?

Open command prompt as admin, Type the following
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /Flushdns
ipconfig /renew

If that does not work, Go into your internet options
go to connections tab, go down to lan settings, the only one that should be checked is "Automatically detect settings"
now go to control panel, hardware manager, device manager, scan for hardware changes, then go down to network adapters, right click it and enable them

I will try this as soon as my scans are completed.

ipconfig /release did not work it says it can't configure a connection. I am using a vpn at the moment but when I disconnect from the vpn my original connection is unuseable. What the heck did i get infected by? I removed all threats that where found by windows defender and malware-bytes yet im still having this issue. I can only connect when I am using my vpn.

Did you check the internet options, that's usually where the viruses will disable your intwrnet. As stated above. If you can for me type in command prompt
Netsh wlan show, aND screen print what it says so I can see. What some viruses will do is hijack your adapter, then can even hijack your router and modem, unplug the route and modem, wait 1 min, plug them all back in, this will refresh the dns, domain name servwr, this is what your computer communicates with and what assigns ip addresses. In networking, adapter setting, go over organize, then folder and search options, from there check the box that says show hidden files folders and drivers. Go back to your adapter page, right click it and click display hidden or disabled adapters. Tell me if there are any currently not in use. Also an easy way is to get avast anti virus and run a home network security scan which is free, this will find any issues in the net.

Also please download spy bot 2 search and destroy, this is a highly complex scanner that will find hidden rootkits, malware, adware, and on top all that it will immunize your files and folders to stop anything from changing or altering them

thank you very much you've been a great help

EDIT: I am on a VPN as it is the only way I can access the internet from my computer without it its no use. So for your future instructions do I disconnect from it when attempting to fix it?

You should not have to, whats happening is the residuals left over from the virus still changed some files, to access internet options, go to your search bar, type internet options, then in the tabs go to connectivity, then click lan settings and make sure only the first box is checked where it says automatically detect settings.

also please type Ipconfig /all and post what it says

Alright awesome, making progress, I think I may have found the issue,
I need you to right click on the network and sharing center, once opened Look for local area connection, your internet that is not working, right click it and open properties.now double click in the list Internet Protocol 4 IPV4
after opened it should look something like this
2015-05-14_031503.jpg
if you can put what is written here in the slots, this is a very reliable dns server most use.
Then after all of this
run command prompt as administrator and type
netsh winsock reset and press enter
after that type
netsh int ipv4 reset and press enter, this will require you to restart your computer afterwards. but you should have internet!

DUDE YOU'RE AWESOME! I can connect without my vpn your fix has no negative side effects right? Another question I have is how do I turn on Windows defender back on? it got swtiched off when I installed spybot. I'm in security and maintenance trying to switch it on but it won't.

Also is the virus fully gone?

You do not need to turn windows defender back on, Spybot does everything It can but better and has even more features you can use to immunize your computer. the searches are resource heavy, but they will find everysingle thing on that PC. the same with Avast anti Virus, I have a computer tech shop and any I fix all are given back pre installed Avast and Spybot, I have used them for the past 7 years and never once had an issue, especially when you immunize your online files and folders. spybot also comes with a rootkit scanner which is great.

lets not forget avast, The second you go to a malicious site or click on a file that is malicious, it will automatically block connection ports and stop whatever it is aswell as letting you know that a virus attempted to access your computer.

Edit: Avast Anti Virus Boot Scan will remove any virus and any trace of a malicious software, as the way it works is by searching the files while they are not active during boot so they cant disguise themselves as a windows program.

I am really glad I figured this out for you :) if you ever need anymore help come back and ask away! just have to have patience and we promise I and other will do our best to insure we fix your issue

Edit2: and yes, it has 0 side effects the way I showed you, It was most likely what you just changed it to before the virus hijacked it. they do that to prevent you from stopping them and downloading software to get rid of it.
