No more display when laptop is turned on

Hello,

i have an hp pavilion dv2. my problem is, when i turned it on, all the lights are on like the power,,battery,etc. but there is no display at all.not even a p.o.s.t . as in nothing.
after a few sec, the hard disk l.e.d turn off. what should i do?do i have to replace it with a new hard disk? how about my files? can i still recover those? please help me, i have no back up copy of the files that were stored in my laptop. please send me an email response at n_trek@yahho.com . you also want to discuss every possible solutions in here.. thanx

yes..the the light on the led has power including all other LED's...except that the led of the hdd goes off
