No power to acer aspire d257

My wife's Acer Aspire D257 will not turn on. I removed the battery and then reinserted it and tried to turn it on. Still, it will not power on. I connected the the A/C adapter and still no power. Everytime I press the power button the power light blinks then goes off. Any idea what the problem might be? Should I just take it to a repair tech?
