No sound from projector thru hdmi

I purchased my husband a dbpower t22 projector as an early Christmas present we hooked it up to our time warner cable/spectrum dvr box to the projector via hdmi and we get a great picture but no sound. When we hooked it up through rca cables we get both picture and sound but we are wanting to use the hdmi cables so we get the better picture how can we get the projector to recognize both picture and sound through hdmi please help

Check the cable box audio menu. It may not be set to output audio via HDMI or you may need to change the audio output type to stereo PCM.
Last resort would be to get a soundbar that you could connect to the cable box and leave the HDMI out going to the projector.
