No Sound HDMI connected

I hooked my computer to my television via HDMI cable but have no sound. Do I have to hook up the speakers on my computer for sound? My Blu-Ray player plays the sound through the HDMI without additional speakers.

No you don't. Right click the volume icon and select playback devices

Enable the hdmi in that window, right click it and select set as default playback device
