No sound when connected. Hdtv via bvi to hdmi, what the @%#€&?

no sound , connected HDTV via DVI. to HDMI. Older Sony TV. No digital audio port, Just one HDTV rca port and a variable/ fixed port. What is wrong? Help!!!

dvi only support video.

You don't actually say what you are connecting to what and the makes and model numbers.
If the TV has a DVI video input it should have an audio input associated with it. If the source only has HDMI out then you will need to extract the audio from the HDMI with something like this
