No sounds out of computer speakers

I recently bought these Logitech speakers, i got no sound other then static out of them but my 2nd monitor ran by hdmi will play sound so i returned those and got the z213 speakers, those also give me only static and still only get sound out of the hdmi monitor. How can i get these speakers to work?

If you have the HDMI connection running, you need to set the default playback to the sound card the speakers are plugged into.
