lose norton is sucks, its too heavy and bulky. its crap.

get yourself nod32 for anti virus and sygate pro for firewall, and spysweeper for anti spyware that is all you need, and they will be lighter on you system ;)

actually others are the same if not much better as I said, the rest of the protection with all due respect is happening in the users head. there is not one reason to use norton. not one ;)

all you need to be secure I have listed for you, anything pass those you are just wasting your time there is nothing else you can do with any other software out there that those 3 I named can't do ;).

plus with my selection you can kiss false positives good bye ;) and nothing norton has is even comparable with nod32.

hoi! its not in my head

i get on average about 8-9 viruses a week! and people do try nd hack me occasionally :D

from my past experience

nod32 average to low
avg free - find the virus, tells you its therem but is the most useless saxk of shit at removing them
macafee good, but even more system hogging than norton
tren micro - pathetic at keyloggers, and the ONLY prorgram in VB and AV test to shut down from a virus attack
ca - alrite but next to no inegration
zonealarm pro - good, but not enough customisable options
sygate - alrite, but not very intuitive

I'm not sure what mean by "my past experience, nod32 average to low".

what does that mean? explain.

nod32 kicks nortons ass in every way, I dont' know what you are doing over there, nor do I know how you get any viruses while sing nod unless you tell it not to stop it.

nod is the only anti virus that gives you updates daily vs the other anti viruses like norton.

lol if nod32 is avarage to low then norton is shit to ultimate shit ;)

nod 32's carpabilities are between average to low

nortons spanks nod32's arse every time it tries to compete.

don't believe me? take a look at proper TESTS done by VB or AV-Test.org. Nod 32 ranks abt 6th from memory out of the 8 they tested.

Note - proper TESTS, not the crappy reviews from soem tech sites where some guy portscans the pc with a laptop, loads a virus from floppy, the ses YEP! its got 100% detection rates

listen this thread is a joke. I'm a software tester and I don't anybody to tell me what is good or not, only when hell freezes over does norton even hold a candle to nod, lets start with the fact that norton itself is flawed

I'm sorry
36_11_6.gif
but its sounds like you need another antivirus and firewall just to protect you from all flaws of norton
36_11_6.gif
36_11_6.gif
and there is plenty more where that came from
36_11_6.gif

this one was my favorite :

http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/security/soa/Symantec_flaw_leaves_opening_for_viruses/0,130061744,139180674,00.htm

and lets not even get into how much of your cpu norton unnecessary uses

ROFLMAO thx for that mate I had not had a good laugh like that for a long time

36_11_6.gif

btw, vb has been giving much better ratings to nod then it has norton ;)

if brains wuz bread, you wudv died before youse was born

btw, i forgot to mention

YOUR AN ASSHOLE

i dunno if thats new to you, so i mentioned it anyway

------------------------------

for starters, your article is 2 years old, and symantec has updated their software line since then. SECONDLY, the flaw only affects old outdated versions, ie pre 2005

your second link is also irrelevant, its is even older, 3 years old from 2004. As the article said, a number of conditions have to met, which is unlikely for a gargantuan mass of the population. Anyway, symantec patched the issues before the flaw was released.

every product will have its flaws, nod32 included, but i cbb to search just to shut you up

------------------------

i think you need a commerical solution whether it be norton/trend micro/macafee/zonealarm, to heal that brain of yours and quarantine the rest of your grey matter

im also very sorry to hear that you try to run norton 06 on a pentium 1 200mhz with 32 mbs of ram, i feel for you

----------------------------------

(back to the 3rd article)
I'm sorry, but that article is redundant as it is a rephrasal of the same topic mentioned in your first link, aka it is also 2 years outdated and only affects outdated versions

hahah :D nice try an loading up the so called "evidence" against norton

ROFL, LMAO, I promptly pee myself from reading your drivel.

Go anal yourself with a retractable baton and have a nice day :D :D

(in case you haven;t figured out the point of my rant,, i wanted to knwo the release date if 360, not get persuaded to nod32)

I see your point, your argument of "lets act like they didn't happen" is a great one
36_11_6.gif

its now obvious you are fanboy, enjoy your bloated norton hope it protects you against all your porn site visiting (all your supposed viruses) and lets not forget how important you are that people take actual time out of their day just to hack somebody who is not even smart enough to know that norton sucks.

no, its giving both side a fair hearing. I see you haven't pointed out any defects in Nod32 yet

yes, i cud b considered a fanboy of norton atm, but ill happily move to whatever alternative suite, if in future releases, it provides more functionality than norton.

and yes they are viruses. (you seem to know a bit about porn?) most from P2P, torrents, maybe not so legal/grey websites, but not porn. (compromising for your own faults?)

if a person was truly smart, they would know that the current version of norton does not suck, and wouldv blown your head into oblivion with a shotgun.

Becoming a target of a hacker is not that rare, surprising to you it may seem ,as you probably don't own a firewall, and wouldnt know until someone keylogged your credit crard details, and bought a lifetime subscription to playboy

-----------------------------------------

I'm not microsoft or the almighty dipsh1t. Yes i have paint, i've had it since i used windows 95.

o_0

btw, if the baton breaks while analing yourself, give me a call ebfore you die and i'll come sign your coffin

sure champ ;) what ever you have to say to yourself to make you feel OK about throwing your money away ;)

p2p virus = your fault you have to open the file, your anti virus should warn you, nod would have just cleaned it ;)

torrents virus = another p2p file, if you new anything you would not listed separately ;)

not so legal/grey virus = porn/warez = your fault you have to open the file, your anti virus should warn you, nod would have just cleaned it ;)

if a person was truly smart they would know the mentioned above and not need somebody to clearly it for them

as for me being hacked

I feel bad for the person that would try and hack me

as for my info stolen, well I'm not a n00b like you ;) who does not know what is what, there are plenty of people out there who have tried and hack me/our site but so far so good, at-least with my own PC.

If you were not such a n00b you would know where to go so that you would not need to deal with viruses and still get what you need but unfortunately you are one. same goes for p2p ;)

i wudnt say its a total money throwaway

where i am, some stores sell it incredibly cheap, sometimes 40% below rrp, and even better for 3 packs

p2p virus - my antivirus does clean it, as soon as it is saved to the temp directory, without any interference of manual scanning

bittotrrent is indeed anothe p2p, but a lot of ppl associate p2p for limewire, winmx, edonkey, usenet etc

"not so legal/grey virus = porn/warez = your fault you have to open the file, your anti virus should warn you, nod would have just cleaned it"

it gets disinfected straightaay, once again, before the user (me) has a chance to even view the file/webpage or before its finished loading 100%

anyway notsolegal/grey implies warez NOT porn. porn is 100% legal in most countries if you're above the leal age of consent :p

i have had people hack me, and as with you, so far so good, with no penetrations as of yet.

I know perfectly well how to avoid viruses and the like on warez sites, but its often much quicker to download an infected file, clean it, and extract the contents. The sites with viruses, i know about, not only throught norton. i visit them INTENTIONALLY, so no, its not my n00bidity that i get attacked by viruses.

P2P - sure sure, you can find all your txt documents and mp3s without viruses. but try searching for rars/zip/exes and ill qarantee that 75% or more will contain a virus. And i'm not talking about the 100kbyte movies whihc are obviously duds. Take a real life example - acronis true image 9 can be had on limewire. Yes, it has viruses but also the real content.

For the majority of the time, i don't stumble across badware by accident.

------------------------------------

btw, don't use so many emoticons

it just looks retarded after the first 5 or so

limewire sucks worst then your norton.

I repeat myself, you don't know what you are doing, I'm a p2p pro, actually put out 2 of them myself, been doing it for years. just because you don't know how to get things without them being fake it does not mean there is no way, you just don't know how to do it.

I would explain in a pm but to be honest in this case IMO it would be a waste of time ;) good luck

BTW why don't you just test the beta 360 for free and then just throw your money in the trash till the full one comes out then you can trash more of you money ;)

worthless norton 360 beta

sigh....

this thread is meandering and getting nowhere besides being a waste of time. and i still haven't found out the asnwer yet too.

i'll be happy to call it quits. i still think norton is superior to nod but i cbb to argue further. don't get me wrong tho, just cuz im backing out, i will argue on if i have to :p

but for now, as this is getting no where

exeunt, stage right
