Hello, while watching blueray movies why am I seeing a widescreen look(top and bottom chopped off) and then some chapters show a full screen image. The image changes on it's own. At the start of one chapter the screen was full and when the scene changed, a few seconds in, the screen switched to the top and bottom being chopped off. Anyone know whats going on....

Solution
There are actually three different versions of "widescreen". Meaning there are three different aspect ratios being used for filming movies. These aspect ratios are 1.77:1, 1.85:1, and 2.35:1. What resolution your HDTV is will determine how large (if at all) the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen are.

It sounds like either your Blu-Ray player is having a hard time determining which aspect ratio to send to your HDTV or your HDTV is switching resolutions. Check to see if there is a firmware upgrade for either.
