MTV, VH1 To Air Live 8 Performances Uninterrupted.
Ten hours will be broadcast commercial-free on Saturday, July 9th.

MTV and VH1 will each offer five hours of uninterrupted performance
footage with differing artist lineups on Saturday. VH1 will air its Live
8 highlights from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, while MTV's batch of
highlights will roll out from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

"At MTV and VH1, we're in a constant and candid dialogue with our
audience, and in the wake of the live events last Saturday, our viewers
have resoundingly told us online they want to see full-set performances
from their favorite artists."

VH1 (DirecTV channel 335), 10am to 3pm Eastern (7am to noon Pacific)

Performances by: Paul McCartney & U2, U2, Coldplay, Bon Jovi, Elton
John, Will Smith, Annie Lennox, Keane, Dave Matthews Band, Orchestra
Baobab, Madonna, Maroon 5, Joss Stone, Velvet Revolver, Sting, Rob
Thomas, Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams, the Who, Pink Floyd, Stevie
Wonder and Paul McCartney.

MTV (DirecTV channel 331), 3pm to 8pm Eastern (noon to 5pm Pacific)

Performances by: Paul McCartney & U2, U2, Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas,
Destiny's Child, Green Day, Dido & Youssou N'Dour, Kanye West, Alicia

There was major damage control at MTV after the how they screwed up the
live show - I'm sure everyone is doing last minute scrambling -
including getting on the schedule.

I hope this shows up on DVD at some point. I recorded the original
MTV airing (very chopped up, but maybe they played some songs in their
entirety), and MOST of this uninterrupted redo. Accidentally I did exactly what
I feared -- started recording on the wrong channel.

The performances are up on aol's web site, though I don't see a way to
just play it continuously (you have to switch from song to song),
and actually there's something screwed up with their quicktime movies -- weird
screeches every once in a while.
