Nvidia Shield: microsd card or external hard disk?

Hello all,
I just bought a Nvidia Shield and started to play with it yesterday. I ordered a 64GB Kingston Class 10 microsd card that I received today. But I had a Seagate Momentus 5400.6 2"5 hard disk so I used it with the shield and used it as internal storage. I installed a few apps, everything is fine.
My question is; would you keep the hard disk or switch for the microsd card? Like I said, the hard disk was in my drawer, I won't use it if not with the shield. I already have a NAS so I don't intend to use the disk to store videos or music. Apps and games for sure. But if you think it's too slow compared to the microsd, then I'll switch.
Thanx for your advices and comments :)

Hello :)
Are you sure that the transfer rate is faster with a microsd card (not a SSD drive)?
Because the specs of the hard disk says that the transfer rate is about 300MB/s while the microsd is 45MB/s. The latency is of course much lower with the microsd but would that matter with the shield?

oh yes an SSD drive would be faster i was just comparing between the 2 drives you posted. you had an SD card vs a 5400rpm external HDD so the cdcard would be fastest between the two. you also have to keep in mind what version of USB the shield has. if it has USB 2.0 you will not get the full speed of the drive like it was connected internally in a computer to a SATA port

How do I know which version of USB the shield has? I just bought it, I expect it to use at least a USB 3.X port, right?
Still, the microsd card that I received is a class 10, Kinsgston 64GB, and the specs says that the transfer rate is 45MB/sec, way less than the hard disk, right? Beside the latency, the hard disk isn't a better choice?
