Why don't we just ban the internet, that'll solve everything... Oh and let's also install cameras everywhere in case anyone ever picks their nose or farts in public!

Gimme a break...

I see what this really is. Since it's handled by DHS they will be able to claim every action as national security. Which gives them the power to ignore any laws/rights. Let's face it the DHS isn't going to magically make banks and the government more secure. This isn't about security. What they are hoping to do is increase the DHS budget to be more bloated than it already is and acquire resources to better spy on people's online activities and to track down whistle blowers and hacktivists.

I hate when people call Obama a liberal because when he does things like this he clearly is not.

Another executive order? I wonder what freedoms this one will revoke..

Only God knows. What I find amusing is how the Obama apologists like to compare other presidents using EOs as well (especially Bush). But there were next to zero EOs by previous presidents that established so much freedom and liberty-inhibiting and privacy invasion measures as this current president's EOs have done. It's so ironic actually...all the things the left said about Bush (tyrant, dictator, fascist, etc.) have actually come through fruition under Obama and they say nothing while he chips away at freedoms in America under the guise of "domestic security." If Bush put drones in the skies over America, all holy HELL would have broken loose among the progressives and their main stream media.

The reason there have been so many lately is the financial meltdown from 2007, and the lack of jobs. This created lots of pissed off people who might end up rioting in the streets. The Occupy Wall Street movement was an early stage of that. Not rioting, but showing how pissed off people were that they came out to demonstrate. The bankers and politicians are running scared that the US could follow in the footsteps of other popular revolutions. Therefore we see:

* Militarization of the police (giving them lots of military-class weapons)
* Spying online, so they can detect people organizing
* Gun control regulations to disarm the population
* Labeling anyone they don't like as terrorists, money launderers, hackers, and child pornographers.

and many more actions along the same lines. Whenever any of these actions come up, ask yourself if it protects the bankers and politicians from *us*. In the story above, that is explicit:

"...protecting critical U.S. infrastructure as cyber attacks continue to affect the country's banks and government departments." - yup, running scared.

I expect them to try and regulate 3D printers sometime soon, because you can use them to print gun parts.

I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid. You're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin. I'm going to hang up this phone, and then I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world … without you. A world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries; a world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you.

I especially am weary of the computer crimes portion of this. Example: Child porn... Think about it... They (fbi, dea, or some other corrupt cop) break into your home with a shady warrant and an under-the-table USB HDD full of kiddie porn.
With a gun pointed at the back of your head and you lying face down on the floor in cuffs in the other room, they plug this it into your computer and Windows happily PnP's the drive. One of the goons runs a script that rapidly opens/closes several pre-selected images to set some audit logs and access times on the file system to be entered into evidence later against you.
Guess what, they found exactly what they expected to find. All the proof they need.

And that is the end of you...

//quick digress
Al Capone was put away for tax evasion. Not what the feds really wanted him for, but it got them a similar result and they used it. The same logic applies here folks...

An Idiot actually requires the ability to think for themselves and coming up with horrible conclusions. A puppet simple does what its masters tell it to by pulling the correct string's.

So essentially you are correct, he is not an idiot.

I am proud to live in a state where gun's outnumber people almost 3 to 1. If the politicians think having guns is so bad, then why is gun violence so low in Sweden? Unlike the United States where at age 21 you can go do anything you want even without the proper training, and just pay the price for ignorance (sometimes with others lives,) they actually teach citizens about guns.

This country has created so many winners of the Darwin awards that its sad. We have a high rate of alcohol/drug abuse because instead of shining a light on the proper way to use these things, we just tell you this. "Drugs are bad, mmmkaayy, guns and sex are bad too" Then show children pictures of people with their heads blown off and junkies on their death bed and people with horrendous STD's.

The problem which many have touched on, is who watches the watchmen? Is their Congressional oversight into their actions, do the people even control the Congress? The answer is no, and it should scare the crap out of you. Welcome to Nazi America.
