First of all, can this Compaq Armada M300 laptop CPU be removed? I've opened up the laptop but i found that the cpu is just sitting on the mainboard like normal chip; I cant find the normal cpu socket like desktop mainboard. I am not sure if the cpu is fixed on board and removing it simply means destroying both cpu and mainboard. I have a (800/100)mhz Pentium-M processor and i am sure the BX chip can support it, only if current CPU can be taken out.

Thank you.

Hi,
I realize the above is an old question. But did you receive any credible answers?
I also have a Compaq M300 that has a Pentium III CPU and is very slow. Did you find an answer/solution?

Thanks,
