Onboard audio vs Monitor out for speakers

Hey guys,

So I have an Acer Predator XB321HK monitor with my PS4 plugged into the HDMI port and my PC plugged into the Displayport.

I want to purchase some 2.1 speakers, probably the Klipsch Promedia 2.1, as my monitor speakers are not good lol.

If I connect the Klipsch to the monitor, I am able to get audio for both PC and PS4 depending on what input I am on.

If I connect the Klipsch to the motherboard line out, I can only obviously get PC sound.

My question is, is there a difference in quality if the audio comes out of my PC motherboard which has a great dedicated soundcard installed, or if the speakers are connected to the monitor (does the monitor use its own dac or does it carry the PC signal through displayport without quality loss?)

Lastly, say I connect the speakers to the motherboard, is there a way to connect the speakers to the headphone port on my ps4 controller to get audio out that way

Cheers
