HOW DO I CHECK TO SEE IF MY SOUND IS TURNED ON IN BIOS

Desktop computer: Press Del key as the computer starts and that should throw you into the BIOS screens -- from there you'll have to explore as BIOSes vary.

Laptop: see maker's manual.
