Is it really free? Or do I have to pay with my time by watching Prime's stupid ads even though I paid for my Prime membership. Just like good old cable where I paid a cable bill and then still paid with my time by watching ads every 5 minutes.

Prime is dead to me. I don't watch ads on something I've already paid for and I don't pay a subscription just for free shipping that I can achieve simply by meeting minimum order amounts. There's nothing I buy that I have to have yesterday.

So Amazon can go pound sand with their Prime membership scam.

That's commonly known as a bait-and-switch scam. I don't do business with dishonest people. You will eventually get taken by them yourself if you do.
