one of the pins on my cf reader is broken is this why my PC is telling me to format my cf card ?

I have nearly 200 photos from a holiday on cf card which has worked perfectly up to now , but I've just realised one of the pins on the cf reader is broken is this why its coming up that I shud format the card ??? Pls help

It seems to be a case as your computer can't read card data and suggests you are inserted the unformatted card (instead of broken).

The possible solution is to try the card (carefully) in your camera and use the camera's plugging cord to transfer the data to your computer.
