Onkyo receiver keeps saying "See TV"

Hi I bought an Onkyo NR656 receiver. Connected to my LG smart TV via ARC. My PS4 and Satellite decoder are connected directly to the TV. Each time I put the TV on there is no sound coming out of my speakers and the Onkyo receiver displays a message saying "See TV".

I then need to go into my TVs audio settings. Switch the audio output to internal TV speaker then switch output back to ARC and then the sound works again.

Surely this means either something is incorrectly setup or the receiver is faulty? Please help...

Why not connect your devices to the receiver instead of to the TV? That is what it is designed to do.

Will give that a go this evening and hopefully it eliminates the issue. Thanks for the response

Before you change the hookup try turning off CEC in the TV menu.
When it screws up it does some weird stuff.
