Check out what my laptop just got upgraded to before it left XoticPC:

Sager NP9170 / Clevo p170em:

OLD: Processor Sager - 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM, 2.2-3.1GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache) (Supports 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors)

NEW: Sager - 3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3610QM (2.3GHz - 3.3GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP) (SKU – S2R174)

Gogo new chipset! I hear it runs a little hotter than the Sandy Bridges though. Discuss?

^^agree

At stock clocks I wouldn't say or I haven't read any of the good reviewers claim that it runs hotter. This stuff just gets blown out of proportion and then everyone runs with it. And really, it's kind of silly to think about the temps as an independent variable. It's temperature is a product of the chips power consumption, hence it's dependent on something else. So really you should be discussing its efficiency and/or oc'ing ability. Example: a 2500K @ 4.0ghz is hitting 70C at full load and a 3570K @ 3.8ghz is hitting 70C at full load. Which one is running "hotter?"

@mobrocket LAWL.
@looniam Naw I'm good with stock settings. They generally leave the voltage modifiers out on laptop bios anyway and I don't think that's something you can change with XTU.

I'm just stoked to be getting my shipping information soon =P CAN'T WAIT!

@looniam We shall see! I plan to bring it to work with me when I get it to get everything loaded up and stuff so I might do some benchies then. Otherwise I dunno... I may be too busy playing with it haha :)

I'll see what I can do when it arrives as I'm sure I'll want to play around with it at work.
