Opinions on a new gaming laptop

For over a year now I've been using a Sony Vaio (intel i3 core processor, 4GB of RAM and an intel HD graphics card) for gaming. Recently I've decided to buy a new custom laptop. I've decided to go with an intel i5 1.8GHz processor, 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 graphics card. The problem that I've had is will this new laptop be able to run high performance games like Battlefield, Skyrim and Compay of Heroes or am I wasting money on a laptop that wont be able to run anything?
