Original iphone on verizon?

My friend has an original iphone and I was wondering if it has the ability to be put on the verizon network now that they support the iphone? He wants me to jailbreak it and use the MyWi app to make a hotspot in his home. I've looked through google but all i found was forums from a couple years back.

Nope, it cannot be done. The original iPhones were only made to work with GSM networks, not a CDMA network like Verizon's, i.e. the radios are different between the two versions of the iphone 4; the older iphones were not made with CDMA radios.
